Newer houses, and mostly first-generation arrays
Murrieta built out later than the cities north of it, and the pools show it. Roofs are largely tile still in good condition, layouts are straightforward, and the solar up there tends to be mid-life rather than finished. That changes what a failure means: on a twenty-five-year-old array the conversation is usually about replacing the lot, while here it is far more often one panel, one header, or a control that was never set up correctly.
It also means your warranty is frequently still live. Panels carry twelve years — inside that we file the claim and the part is covered, so you pay for the labor to fit it rather than for a new system. Worth establishing before you accept a quote for a full replacement.
Season
The pool nobody swims in until June
It is a common conversation here. The house is newer, the pool arrived with it or shortly after, and by the second year you have worked out that you maintain it for the full year and swim in it for three months. Nothing is broken. The water is simply cold until well into June, and cold again by late September.
That is the gap solar closes, and it closes it at both ends of the season rather than in the middle of July when the sun is doing the work anyway. If you have a spa, it comes up to temperature long before the pool does — often the part you end up using most.
